Cape Traditional Singers and Brass Band in South Africa
This is a reality of the Mitchell 's Plain suburb in Cape Town in South Africa
where half the population lives a situation of great distress
and about twelve million people living in extreme poverty.
The suburb has degenerated into urban ghettos that are dominated by crime,
drug use, diseases and unemployment.
The population is struggling every day,
the children and young people are the easy victims of criminal gangs,
always ready to recruit new people.
The Cape Traditional Singers and Brass Band is a community solution
in order to remove children from the streets,
giving them a reference of life and principles of dignity,
humanity, respect, honesty and, above all giving them
hope for a healthier alternative.
The “club-house” of Mitchell’s Plain thus becomes a safe place,
where members learn to sing and play instruments,
benefiting from assistance and meals ...
In short, a place where dreams can begin

ANGOLA
Kaposoka Orquestra
Sinfonica
Kaposoka Orquestra Sinfonica in Angola
The Kaposoka Orchestra was born inside a music school created by
Pedro Fançoni, professor of law at the University of Luanda (Angola).
Fançony has designed and conducted this project with great determination and energy.
For some years now, the results of this monumental work begin to appear more and more important, endearing the interest ofmedia and goverative institutions.
The school was founded in the suburbs of Luanda (Angola's capital),
in a district with little light and a little water.
The houses, streets and cars are in a critical state,
the hygienic conditions often deplorable.
Every day the young musicians get up and go to the music school,
where a shower and a hot meal will be offered to them.
They play Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven and traditional African pieces.
They spend hours and hours studying and dreaming of a better future,
they are gifted and determined.
The Kaposoka orchestra is the most emblematic result of the
homonymous music school. During the interviews with the kaposoka students,
some of them confided that attended the entrance exam in the hope of getting
a daily meal provided by the structure.
Then they learned to feed themselves also with music,
which has become their main source of living.
Today the school has thousands of inscriptions;
it has become an important reference point for the whole city.
The Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos plans to build
twenty Kaposoka locations around the Country
in order to suppress and combat crime.

SS Trinity Music School in Haiti
The funds raised will be devoted in scholarships for music study
and purchase of musical instruments and teaching materials
that the 2010 earthquake destroyed and dispersed.
Temporary structures in wood of the
SS Trinity Music School in Port-au-Prince
are currently used as classrooms.
It is desirable to rebuild a music school in the near future
so that the young Haitian musicians can study again in a real structure.
